This sunburned tourist is strolling along a street-side park
in Covington, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from
Cincinnati.
Until the end of October, the Cincinnati area will be home to
more than three hundred
much-bigger-than-life fiberglass pigs, scattered in public places
on both sides of the river.

These three were taken on Guam.
The first is Agana Bay, taken from the front of
my hotel.
Talofofo Falls is located in the
interior area of the island.
When we lived on Guam in 1968 my husband and I
along with friends partied there,
drinking beer and jumping into the pool
at the base of the falls.
Now I can't believe we did anything so foolish
and didn't get hurt.
Ah youth!
The cave is one which a Japanese WWII soldier, Sgt. Yakoi, dug and
holed up in for 28 years!
He was discovered in 1972.
Yakoi had seen fliers dropped over the island proclaiming the
war's end but he thought it was a propaganda trick.
When Yakoi was finally repatriated the Japanese
government rewarded his devotion to a lost cause with a
large settlement.
My students tell me that he lives in Brazil
where he bought a large tract of land which he farms.

This was taken somewhere near Bimini, the Bahamas, in 1999.
(Black tips, nurse, and bull sharks.)
NOW how do I get back onto the boat?

Here is a recent photo of those black walnut trees I planted 24 and 28
years ago (I think) at my mother's home.
There are 12 or 15 or so in the
foreground, the newer trees, while the older planting is in the left
background.
The 1965 Plymouth in the background belongs to son Ray
Jezerinac, a gift from his grandfather, Joseph Salomon.
It is in process
of being restored.
Ray bought the place after my mother's death.

Here is a pic made last week of the front rock garden in process.
When the
village crew had several (a bunch!) truck loads of dirt and rocks from the
lake to get rid of, I had them drop one load in my side yard and three in
the back yard.
All this shown here, and more, came from the 'front' load.
This garden seals the foundation of the home, extending completely around
the house, and will be planted to various flowers.
The back loads will
become a raised planting area devoted to herbs.
I left one opening in the
foundation in my tool room for a large electric fan to ventilate the crawl
space.

[This is] a photo of the building [in Richwood] which I had in mind when I
proposed an intentional community.
It was built following the Civil War by
an engineer, J. L. Langstaff, and served him and his family as a
single-family dwelling.
More recently it served as an apartment building
with (I think) eight apartments.
Most recently it was renovated to
become a
"bed and breakfast" joint, but somehow that fell through.
It is now on the
market again.
If one were to remove the yellow excrescence at left, it
would be a good example of Civil War era luxurious housing.
Note the double
chimneys, it had lots of fireplaces.
